Relief print with water based inks on Ice Plates.
15 x 15 inch each
Data Source: NASA / ICESat
These relief prints are analog-data-visualizations of information gathered through remote sensing (NASA). The data collected by the machines and scientists is translated through relief prints with water-based inks on ice plates, which are subsequently printed on paper. Mimicking patterns of fragmentation generated by the colossal shelving in Antarctica, the project addresses ecogeographies, climate change, and geopolitical disputes. By creating an imprint of the data based on the source materials, the prints add a haptic quality to the work, creating an alternative way in which to interpret the data.
